It would have been so quicker and even more safe if he used one pulley, secured it to a nearest tree in the direction of falling, tied it to a tree and just pulled. But why simple method if you can go with complicate one.

What i have learned is to let the tree fall the way where it leans to! Or else use Equipment to pull the tree! Once the tree is loose because of using the wedges too much you are creating Dangerous situations!

To all those who 'can do it better, faster' and 'this guy doesn't know what he's doing'. Probably you can not do it 'better and faster' and yes this guy clearly does know What he's doing and Why he is doing it, the Way he is doing it. The original video shows a bit better the significant back lean on this this dying (probably) tree. As well as the back lean, this tree has more limb weight on the back side, greatly increasing the force required to fall it in the direction chosen. When wedging a tree over, the maximum stack height is 2 wedges and I'm pretty sure that when this tree finally started to go over, the back cut had opened up to a gap of about 3 wedges plus or minus. I.E the lift required was more than could be achieved with wedges. I.E. Jacking is probably a very good and perhaps the best choice in this situation. To those who who say 'Just use a rope and pulleys and pull it instead of jacking it', I would say 'Do a YouTube search for 'idiots with chainsaws, rope and a pickup truck'.' While rigging trees for directional falling is a method frequently used, it is not without it's own complications and hazards and the choice to rig or not will depend on things such as the species of tree, the growth pattern of the tree, the size and the integrity of the wood. Rigging is usually a two person job with both the sawyer and the rope hauler being experienced and able to communicate quickly and accurately with each other. Pulling too hard, pulling too late, pulling off line or perhaps worst letting the tree pull the line rather than the line pulling the tree are all potential disaster scenarios. Disaster as in, "...and that's how the tree crushed my neighbors garage and the $200K sports car that was inside the garage and why I now have to work at McDonalds while I try and recover from being sued into bankruptcy". Or worse, Disaster as in "... and that's how my husband was killed and why my son is now a paraplegic, when all they were doing was cutting down one little tree." All comments of "This guy doesn't know what he's doing, this guy is taking way too long, etc.etc." can and should be dismissed as being without merit unless or until the commenter can document their own experience in the field and lay out a fact based case specifically detailing what this sawyer is doing both correctly and incorrectly, safely and dangerously. Rather than bathing in the warm glow of smug superiority with "I know better, I could do it faster" perhaps we should all ask ourselves, "Why did he choose to do it this way? What has he seen that perhaps isn't shown or isn't obvious in the video? What can I learn watching this?"

@Scooter P He doesn't really have to, most professionals replant trees in the areas they clear so they will have trees to use in the future, it keeps them in business. Cut, plant and rotate which fields they cut and have replanted.

Не понял к чему были все эти мучения. Рядом нет построек и линий электропередачи. Почему нельзя было просто сделать запил с нужной стороны, а потом в один приём перепелить ствол? Длина шины позваляла это сделать.
